A common question we get during the fall season is whether we install window wells during the winter. The short answer is yes, we install egress window wells all year long.
The average January temperature in the Wichita area, for instance, is a high of 42 degrees and a low of 21 degrees. For the type of work involved in installing a new egress window and window well, those temperatures are no problem.
While it rarely gets too cold for us to work, the more common problem is precipitation. Adding a new egress basement window typically involves a lot of dirt work. If rain or snow has thoroughly saturated the soil, it’s not feasible for us to install a window well.
In that case, we need to give the ground time to dry out before we can resume our window well installations. Since the ground dries more slowly during the winter months, we typically can’t install as many egress wells per week as we can during the summer months.
The bottom line is, if you’re needing a new egress window well during the winter months, we can definitely make that happen for you.
